Editorial team|5 minutes to read

Do you spend a lot of time every day working on a tractor, forklift, crane, digger or some other vehicle? Did you know that long days behind the wheel can cause neck, back and shoulder complaints? These physical complaints reduce alertness and work satisfaction. GRAMMER is famous for its seats, which offer the greatest possible comfort to drivers of different types of vehicles. The following three GRAMMER tips will reduce the risk of pain and injury and will make sure you can go into the field in comfort.

Tip 1: Keep a proper posture and adjust the tractor seat

  • The position of your knees
Adjust the height of your seat to make sure that you can easily operate the steering wheel and the pedals. You can do this by placing your knees at an angle of 110 to 120 degrees.
  • Sit properly on the seat
There should be room to fit about three fingers between the back of your knees and the edge of the seat. This causes your body to tilt slightly backwards. This ensures that you do not suffer from back and neck complaints.
  • Backrest in the correct position
Adjust the backrest so that you are leaning back slightly in a relaxed position. Your hips should then be at an angle of 110 to 115 degrees. This allows you to move freely.
  • Support the natural curve of the spine
It is very important to make sure that the natural shape of your spine is supported. You can do this by adjusting the height of the seat and that of the lumbar support function. Make sure you find a comfortable position which offers lumbar support.

Tip 2: Simple stretching exercises to make those long working days easier on the tractor seat

  • Make circular movements with your shoulders
Stretch your back and stay in this position. Circle your shoulders forward eight times and backward eight times.
  • Lift your shoulders
Stretch your back and stay in this position. Lift your shoulders as high as possible and hold them there for a moment. Release and lower your shoulders all the way down. Repeat this eight times.
  • Spread your knees
Spread your knees as wide as possible and close them again. Keep your feet in the same position while doing so. Repeat this eight times.

Tip 3: Get up from the tractor seat and walk a little

As well as performing the exercises, it is also good to take a break. And not just at lunchtime. Get out of your vehicle and walk around for a while. Raise your arms and press them firmly together. Fully stretch your upper body. Jump back and forth a few times to make your hips and knees more supple.
