Video: Remove a cylinder rod press ring in 3 simple steps

Editorial team|3 minutes to read

Removing a press ring from a cylinder rod does not have to be difficult. With a few simple steps you can easily get rid of your old press ring and are you ready to place a new one!

Tools:

• Drill

• Chisel with a pointed end

• Hammer

Step 1:

For this step you need a drill.

Use the drill to drill a hole in the press ring. Make sure you drill a hole in the middle of the ring with a clearance of at least 0.5mm on both sides. In this way you can remove the press ring easily and as complete as possible.

After drilling the first hole, turn the rod 180 degrees before drilling a second hole.

Step 2:

For this step you need a hammer and chisel.

Now that you have drilled a hole on both sides of the press ring, you can start with removing the press ring. Take a chisel with a pointed end that fits into the drilled hole. Hit the chisel with a hammer so that the press ring splits. Do this to both sides of the hole.

Step 3:

For this step you need a hammer and a chisel.

You now have an opening in the press ring. Hit the inside of the opening with the hammer and chisel to remove the press ring. It's that easy!

In the video below you can see how Kramp technical services execute these steps.
